About Stereoscopic 3D

With the arrival of Stereoscopic three dimensional films, the world is about to witness, rapid and revolutionary changes .This is going to open out all sorts of exciting and interesting possibilities not only in 3D feature films but also in television broadcasts, direct to videos. Motion visuals will soon undergo changes; 2D visuals of the present will pave way for 3D or Stereoscopic 3d movies
A 3-D (three-dimensional visual or S3D (stereoscopic 3D) visual is a motion picture that enhances the illusion of depth perception. Derived from stereoscopic photography, a specially built  motion picture camera is used to record the images as  visualized from two angles  computer-generated imagery generates the two perspectives), and special projection hardware and/or eyewear are used to provide the illusion of depth when viewing the film..
3-D films have existed since the 1950s, but had been largely relegated to a niche in the motion picture industry mainly due to the costly hardware and processes involved in producing and displaying 3-D films, and the lack of a standardized format for all segments of the entertainment business. Nonetheless, 3-D films were prominently featured in the 1950s in American cinema, and later experienced a worldwide resurgence in the 1980s and 90s driven by IMAX high-end theaters and Disney themed-venues. 3-D films became more and more successful throughout 2000–10, culminating in the unprecedented success of 3-D presentations of Avatar in December 2009 and mainly January 2010
The recent swing in Hollywood towards stereoscopic feature film production (computer-generated and live action) and the conversion of cinemas to digital projection technologies has brought about a paradigm shift in cinematography, Very soon, stereoscopic display and playback technology will be available on consumer level and will be widely used in digital signage and advertising

Independent film makers and artists are slowly adopting this "new" method of film production. Creating effective stereo and setting up scenes for 3D capture requires that the students, develop a strong theoretical knowledge about stereoscopic depth perception and the practical principles of the medium.

Once 3D is fully entrenched in the consumer market, it won't be long before it is in the training and collaboration market, that's why it is important to understand how 3D learning environment are best designed and leverage for real learning results. Today with the advent of HD format, 3D visuals can be seen even on a computer screen, tomorrow with all 3d ready HDTV’s it will be commonplace.
